A Song for When… You Remember Life is Short
Well, the latest song I’ve gotten hooked on is coming from VOUS Worship. It’s called, “One Day.” Listen to this fun song just once, and I promise you’ll have the catchy chorus delightfully stuck in your head for the rest of the day. But no matter how fun, catchy and delightful the melody is, the words carry a powerful and urgent message. Here are the chorus lyrics:

Have you thought about that today? A day is coming when you will see the face of Jesus! As a believer in Christ, you will go to your eternal home. Where you’re living today is not where you’ll always be. In fact, you are a pilgrim merely passing through. In the grand scheme of history, your years on earth are a tiny speck. Your true home is in the presence of Jesus, and that day gets closer and closer with each passing moment. Are you ready and excited for “one day?”
You might be wondering… How will I know that it’s the day of Jesus’ return? Oh, you’ll know. A later section of the songs reminds us of some distinguishing features of that glorious day. They say:

What a day that will be! These lyrics are straight from Scripture. The sky will split (Revelation 6:14), trumpets will sound (Matthew 24:30-31), and the dead will come to life (1 Thessalonians 4:16). As for Jesus, our returning King? He will be riding a white horse (Revelation 19:11), His gaze will be like fire (Revelation 19:12), and His glory will be on display for ALL to see (Isaiah 66:18). Close your eyes for 10 seconds and imagine it. This is for real! Every word of Scripture will be proven true. It could be today… It could be tomorrow… Are you ready and excited for “one day?”
It’s not just a story, and it’s not just something “out there,” way off in the future. Jesus IS coming back to claim His own and to restore His kingdom. Nobody knows the hour, so we must live with a sense of urgency because one day could be today. That should light a fire under your feet to share the Gospel with anyone and everyone! If you have accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, then there’s no need to fear the day of His return. That’s the other thing I love about “One Day,” by VOUS Worship. The vibe is upbeat, joyful and exhilarating! When one day is today, children of God will be in full celebration mode! …and that’s exactly what this song is. It’s a celebration!
