A Fellowship of Believers

A Verse for When… You Need a Glimpse of Hope

We all have those days when things don’t go well. Nothing seems to be working, interruptions pop up like crazy, and the world just feels out to get you. Maybe you don’t have those days too often, but perhaps they seem to plague you once a week. No matter how often, we all have times in life when we need to be reminded of the glorious future that awaits believers in Jesus. Enter: Micah 5:4-5a

He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. And he will be our peace. -Micah 5:4-5a

Ahhhh just reading those beautiful words makes me feel a little bit lighter. In the face of our troubles, God stands and shepherds us in strength and majesty. His greatness reaches to the ends of the earth, which means we can live in security and peace.

Peace and security.

Peace… Tranquility. Calm. Quiet. Stillness. Silence. Restfulness.

Security… Safety. Certainty. Reliability. Soundness. Comfort. Confidence. Ease. Absence of anxiety.

Can you imagine? Picture it… God’s greatness blanketing the earth, causing peace and security to reign over and through all. It’s hard to even visualize such a state of being. But it is coming! And God is the only One who can bring perfect, lasting security and peace. You may accidentally look to something or someone else for one of those things. Your job? Your family? Your social class? Your position of influence? Your bank account? Your leadership role? Your home? Your fancy car? Your planned vacations? All of these things are nice, but none of them can bring eternal and unrivaled security and peace.

Next time you have one of those days, read Micah 5:4-5a. Then read it again. OUT LOUD!

He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. And he will be our peace. -Micah 5:4-5a
